Medication and its lasting effects, a different perspective

I am a chiropractic doctor in Bellevue, WA and I am writing this article so that people will have more knowledge on the blood pressure medication they are putting in their body. This is a different perspective.

First, it is important to realize that you are putting an actual drug into your body constantly to make it do something specific all the time. Second, you are assuming your body is creating high blood pressure on accident and it isn't suppose to. Question, what if your body IS suppose to be creating high blood pressure and it isn't and accident and by putting this drug in your body you are making you body create more of the chemicals and hormones it makes to create high blood pressure. The question you probably have right now is "why would my body want high blood pressure?" This is kind of a silly question to ask when you realize that the body doesn't make mistakes and it is doing the best possible thing it can do to ADAPT to its environment. That is what the body does, it is constantly adapting to its environment. What do I mean by "environment?" I mean the places your body goes, what it breathes and eats and drinks, and everything else it goes through. I am sure many of you have heard of "sodium" causing high blood pressure. Do you know why people think that? Because they think more water is retained with more "salt" and that water stays in your blood creating more "volume" which creates more pressure because of more liquid in the same size arteries. What if your body can deal with that extra sodium or whatever it is being exposed to? What if your body is doing exactly what is best for it and you are fighting against it? What if you and your prescribing doctor aren't doing the right thing and you are screwing up your body and its functions way more? More info at: mybcfh.com

I want you to think about something I said earlier. Lets say you have high blood pressure. So, your body is producing more of certain chemicals and hormones that are telling your body to be in a high blood pressure state. Now, you and your doctor decide your blood pressure is too high, but did you ever ask why is that, or what is causing it, or what if it is at the pressure it is suppose to be, or can I get it to lower by making changes in my life, what am I doing to cause this?

When you put the blood pressure medication in your body, and your body wants to have high blood pressure what you do is make yourself dependent of the medication because if you come off of it your blood pressure will be higher then ever because you will have more of the chemicals and hormones for high blood pressure floating through your body then you would have if you didn't take meds.

What are some natural ways to "normalize" blood pressure (as well as cholesterol)? I'm sure many of you know that nutrition and exercise will help, but I don't know if you know that it helps a lot(more then medication). Why wouldn't I know this. Because people don't make money selling you this information. There is much more money is pharmaceuticals(it is the most profitable industry in USA($300 billion last year)).

The take away from this is that you MUST take a real look at your life and what you do instead of assuming your body is making a mistake. There is no better treatment then treating yourself well. Putting drugs in your body should be used in emergency and as a last resort instead of "just what everyone does." Our overly medicated society will and must change. It is us and our everyday choices that will create a healthier, stronger, more educated society. Please take the time to educate yourself and be careful because drugs are drugs, and it does not matter if they are legally prescribed or not because the fact remains that they change the way your body is working. Make sure you ask why is this going on. Use drugs as a later choice or crisis choice. Having a sense of accountability will make your life abundant, long, and healthy.

Finally, I want to leave you with a statistic from a published study since people seem to respond to facts. In 1998, The Journal of The American Medical Association published an article that stated: Over 100,000 people DIE EVERY YEAR from NORMAL use of prescription drugs. NORMAL and PRESCRIBED use, not abusive unprescribed use. This means that more people die every year in the USA from normal use of prescribed drugs then the number of people that die from all illegal drugs COMBINED. Also, the ban on medical marijuana is very contradictory because there are many therapeutic uses for marijuana and there has NEVER been a documented case of ANYONE dying from it EVER.

Sometimes what you assume is safe and what you are suppose to do is BASS ACKWARDS!!! Look into everything for yourself, no more assuming. It is your life. If you would like, feel free to check out the website: mybcfh.com

LIVE WELL,

Very nice and useful hub you have here Doc. I agree with you that taking drugs or medications should be the last resort one must have in order to be well. For me, exercise and eating a balanced and healthy diet is the key for a better life.

I agree,This is a great article!!!I have had high bp since 1993.They did a hysterectomy on me and I hemmoraged afterwards. Then they sent me into fluid overload.I weighed 105 lbs when I entered the hospital, after being there 2 weeks,I came out of there weighing 126lbs.My feet looked like flippers lol.The doctor prescribes clonidine.I take it 3 to 4 times a day.It works but having to take so much is dangerous.
